Enzymes are organic proteins that can catalyse and accelerate specific chemical reactions.

They acquire different names according to the type of function they fulfil and they are known as follows in the fashion sector:

  • Amylase (for desizing starchy substances),
  • Cellulase (for removing the cellulose fuzz from the surface),
  • Catalase (for controlled removal of hydrogen peroxide not reacted during bleaching)
